Year 1 and 2
Year 1 and 2
In Key Stage 1, the children are introduced to the subject of history by considering changes that have happened within living memory. These lessons are used to reveal aspects of change within national life, including but not exclusive to ‘Toys’, ‘Seasides’ and 'Castles'.
The children progress to learning about events which are beyond living memory, and concentrating on key dates and events both nationally and globally e.g. 1666 the Great Fire of London.
Within this subject, the children will also look at the lives of significant and substantial individuals who have contributed to national and international achievements. These include Christopher Columbus, Neil Armstrong and Edith Cavell. The children will draw on this knowledge to make comparisons and discuss the aspects of different periods in time.
