Nursery Provision

15 & 30-HOUR PLACES AVAILABLE SPACES AVAILABLE FOR NURSERY

2026-2027 SEPTEMBER START

Nursery applications for September 2026 school year are open for children born between:

1st September 2022 and 31st August 2023.

 

All children are entitled to 15 hours free early education (15 hours FEE) from the term after their 3rd birthday. We offer statutory 15 hours of free early education (FEE) for September, January & April intakes over five days with children being offered either:

 

        • five mornings:                                      8:45am – 11:45am
        • five afternoons:                                   12:15pm – 3:15pm

 

Parents must take up the full 15-hour free provision unless a temporary reduced timetable is agreed as part of an extended transition.

 

Additionally, we offer either government funded 30-hour sessions or paid 30-hour sessions at a cost of £75 per week:

  • 30-hour Nursery Session hours:        8:45am – 3:15pm

Our 30-hour provision is now comprised of 30 hours of Teacher-led nursery education these sessions also include a free lunch club, with the option of purchasing school meals or providing a home-packed lunch.

In addition to our September intake, we also offer 15 & 30-hour spaces for 3-year-olds for children born between 1st September 2023 and 31st March 2024, who qualify for 15 hours free early education the term following their 3rd birthday.

 

  • 1st September 2023 - 31st December 2023 qualify for a January 2027 start
  • 1st January 2024 - 31st March 2024 qualify for an April 2027 start

Children born between 1st April 2024 and 31st August 2024 will qualify for a September 2027 start

These places will be allocated under the same admission rules as the main Nursery spaces; however, they will have automatic admission to our main Nursery in the following September.

Nursery Admissions: Admissions for nursery places in Hertfordshire are managed by individual settings. Therefore, Fairfields Primary School & Nursery, is its own admissions authority for nursery places. Please note, a place in our nursery does not guarantee a place in Reception. However, we do follow the same admission criteria as Hertfordshire County Council.

Night Owlets – After School wrap around care for Nursery

We offer wraparound care for Nursery aged children; which operates as an early years after school wraparound care facility from 3.15pm – 4.25pm for Nursery aged children, this session will also include Reception children for the first hour 3:25pm-4:25pm.

 

This new wrap around care is known as Night Owlets and is based in the Littlefields Nursery building where the children will be able to access the early years resources and equipment and is staffed by Fairfields Early Years Teaching assistants.
